Quote of the Day

Posted by Grozet in May 27th 2008

“A desire to express themselves and a determination to use blogs and social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace to circumvent censorship has created a thrilling equation in the Arab world: one man/woman + internet = very angry dictator”.
~Mona Eltahawy

Quote of the Day

Posted by Grozet in May 16th 2008

“What happens to the Republicans in 2008 will likely be dictated by what didn’t happen in 2005, and ‘06, and ‘07. The moment when the party could have broken, on principle, with the administration – over the thinking behind and the carrying out of the war, over immigration, spending and the size of government – [...]

So you want to Run a Campaign and do it Online

Posted by Grozet in May 12th 2008

I left [...]

Dingle-Retarded: JMU’s Commencement

Posted by Grozet in May 7th 2008

Ponder this.  You’re graduating from James Madison U. and your commencement speaker (Tom Dingledine) tells you to hold hands and close your eyes as new age music is cued.  Quick, you have two seconds to decide what to do?

1) Grab the hand next to you because she is a hottie
2) Start the wave
3) Begin to converse [...]

Does McCain Need Obama? - NC GOP Ad

Posted by Grozet in April 27th 2008

McCain’s decision to ask the North Carolina Republican Party to stop airing an ad of Obama’s pastor (view here) has caused Michelle Malkin to dub McCain a snob and compare him to the mainstream media.
Congratulations, Sen. McCain: You’ve out-snobbed Snobama.
Yes, without having seen the ad or talked directly to the NC GOP officials, he’s absolutely convinced that [...]

8 Governors, Paul Harris, & Doug Wilder Oh My

Posted by Grozet in April 26th 2008

The Sorensen Institute’s gala honoring Senator John Warner last night in Arlington was a star packed spectacle of Virginia politics.  All of Virginia’s living governors attended: Kaine, Warner, Gilmore, Allen, Wilder, Baliles, Robb, and Holton.  Other notables I saw included Chairman Hager, Rep. Wittman, Del. Moran, Sen. Deeds, and a host of candidates seeking office.
I sat at a table provided by big time Democratic donor Suzann [...]

Capitalism Makes Earth Week Possible

Posted by Grozet in April 24th 2008

Public Choice Capitalist has a good post up about how economic freedom, mainly capitalism, has essentially tamed the environment so that we can now enjoy it.
Capitalism is also responsible for giving people the wealth and leisure to permit them to mis-perceive nature as loving and bountiful, and to enjoy nature in a way that few [...]

Cuccinelli Wins AG Poll

Posted by Grozet in April 21st 2008

Cuccinelli took 60% of the vote in the CRFV Blog’s “Which Attorney General Candidate do you Support?” poll.  Cuccinelli’s fan base should be large.  He is the only Republican NOVA state senator to survive the ‘07 purge and he is the most conservative of the bunch!
Rounding out the poll:

24.6%: Fmr. Del. Paul Harris
8.5%: Sen. Mark [...]

My sarcasm got the better of me after debating with two separate pro-China bloggers in the post directly below this one, thus you have this poster!
The WaPo has an interesting piece about the vilification of a freshman Chinese Duke student and how her parents had to go into hiding in her homeland of China after she [...]

Free Tibet? Campus Liberals are Ignoring China’s Abuses

Posted by Grozet in April 19th 2008

I recently put a free Tibet bumper sticker on my car.  My friends reacted by suggesting I put a ’Screw China’ sticker on instead.  While I share this sentiment too, I feel the issue of Chinese human rights abuses are being ignored on college campuses.  Many of my liberal and moderate friends are strangely ambivalent over China and the [...]
