Still Waiting For An Answer On Nick Parks

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 25th 2008

Still waiting to find out if Nick Parks still works for the Norfolk PD. In case you’ve already forgotten who Nick Parks is, he’s the dirtbag cop who tazered the Hula Hoop lady of Granby Street, Pamela Brown. After she went down, he shocked her two more times, as captured on police video.

Obama’s Pick For DHS Secretary Is A Little Too Cozy With Arpaio For My Taste

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 25th 2008

Janet Napolitano’s embarrassing history with Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

For those who don’t know, Joe Arpaio is the abusive sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, who feeds inmates green bologna, houses them in tents in the desert, and makes no distinction between people who have been convicted of crimes and those who have not, and are awaiting trial.

Don’t Screw With The Agitator

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 25th 2008

Radley just destroyed an authoritarian drug warrior blogger on said drug warrior’s own blog.

Let’s set up this scenario:

A drug raid in Pittsburgh leads to the suspects wife shooting an FBI agent to death. She thought it was a home invasion, and she feared for the safety of her two children. Not an unreasonable fear, even if she knew it was the cops, if you ask me. One of many good reasons not to conduct such raids… but I digress.

Ron Paul On Free Markets and Bailouts

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 25th 2008

“An essential element of a healthy free market, is that both success and failure must be permitted to happen when they are earned. But instead with a bailout, rewards are reversed – the proceeds from successful entities are given to failing ones. How this is supposed to be good for our economy is beyond me.”

Funny, The Way These Things Work Out

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 24th 2008

Robert Rubin, the guy who is picking Barack Obama’s economic team, has until recently, been one of the head honchos at Citigroup. By the way, Citigroup is the latest high profile company to get bailout money from the U.S. Treasury.

Weird.

At Least He’s A Big Improvement Over Bob Barr

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 24th 2008

It hasn’t taken long for the presidential horse race for 2012 to begin. It looks as if Tom Knapp, who started the Boston Tea Party in response to the LP’s loss of principles in recent years, has thrown his hat into the ring already.

Well, I have to say this. Knapp is not my ideal candidate. But he’s a damn site better than Barr.

The Real Story Of The First Thanksgiving

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 24th 2008

The Real Meaning of Thanksgiving: The Triumph of Capitalism over Collectivism

Because of the disincentives and resentments that spread among the population, crops were sparse and the rationed equal shares from the collective harvest were not enough to ward off starvation and death. Two years of communism in practice had left alive only a fraction of the original number of the Plymouth colonists.

Leading Question

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 24th 2008

Another media bias story.

Check out this poll question. First the headline:

Should Obama tax the rich?

Uh… the rich are already taxed, morons. The question should be “Should Obama increase the income tax rate on the rich?”

Then, the more detailed, and misleading, body of the question:

Should he raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans to increase revenue?

Halperin at Politico/USC conf.: ‘extreme pro-Obama’ press bias

Media bias was more intense in the 2008 election than in any other national campaign in recent history, Time magazine’s Mark Halperin said Friday at the Politico/USC conference on the 2008 election.

“It’s the most disgusting failure of people in our business since the Iraq war,” Halperin said at a panel of media analysts. “It was extreme bias, extreme pro-Obama coverage.”

The Thin Blue Lie

Posted by Rick Caldwell in November 24th 2008

Lest anyone doubt that cops use thier position to steal from suspects…

A cop in Chicago is on trial for staging fake raids to steal drugs and cash from dealers, and his former partner is testifying that he paid a judge to obtain a warrant for one such raid.
